Location

Au Coeur de Beaufort is a 200 year-old stone ‘Maison Vigneronne’, with private garden and swimming pool, in the centre of Beaufort- a small, Medieval hill-top winemakers’ village near to Olonzac in the Herault (Occitanie, South of France). We are in the heart of the Minervois wine region and central to many Cathar historical sites, including Minerve, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is equidistant to Carcassonne and Beziers and only 55 minutes drive to the nearest beach.

Pick Up

Av-Jean-Moulin
We highly recommend car-hire which is readily available from all the airports and stations, but for shorter stays and very relaxing romantic stress-free, long weekends, we can arrange for you to be collected and returned to either Narbonne, Carcassonne or Beziers by private car (additional fee), then organise bicycles for you to enjoy the surrounding countryside and especially the many boutique wine domains nearby.

The Canal du Midi is just down the road in Homps (5km) and there are numerous small villages to explore within an amateur’s cycling distance. Or you can just enjoy walking through the vineyards that surround us.

Directions by road

From Carcassone or Toulouse, take the A61, exiting to the D611 at Lezignan Corbieres. Follow the signs through to Homps then Olonzac to the main roundabout at the junction of the D11 to Beziers and the D910 leading to Aigne, Beaufort and Saint-Pons-de-Thomières.

From Montpellier head southwest on the A9, direction Barcelona, then exit at Junction 36 towards Beziers ‘Ouest’. Follow the D11 towards Montady, Capestang and Carcassonne in the direction of Olonzac, then Beaufort at the main roundabout.

You will see the village sign for Beaufort as you rise up the hill then, after 500 metres, just after the Mairie (on the left-hand side), take the right hand fork (D168 – Oupia) to the top of the old village. At the crest you will see the Cypress trees that shade our garden. Rue Centrale is just before the garden on the left hand side.

From Narbonne take the D6113 from the centre (Direction Carcassonne) until Villedaigne then take the right D11/D611 in the direction of Olonzac, to a T junction of the D611 to the main roundabout outside the village (it has a cast-iron sign with a painted cassoulet within it), looking out for the turning off onto D910 in the direction of Beaufort.

From Perpignan take the A9 autoroute north towards Narbonne, but leave the motorway at junction 38 to connect with the D6113 (direction Carcassonne) and follow the directions as above.
The Front Door
Au Coeur de Beaufort is marked with a placard on the garden fence opposite the house – the front door has a bright red heart dangling from the knocker. You can park on the road outside the house, which is wide enough (just) for two cars to pass and space for three cars to park, or you can unload your baggages and then park in one of the three public parking areas in the village.

NB: SatNav takes you to the far end of rue Centrale around the corner from us and further up the D910, so follow directions described here to find us.
