For  avid road cyclists, Beaufort featured along Stage 15 of the 2011 Tour de France and the Peloton passed us again nearby in 2016, climbing up through the villages of Siran, Cesseras and Azillanet on its way up through the Gorges de la Cesse, past Minerve, climbing up through the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Languedoc, on its route from Carcassonne to Montpellier. As a result, the area is well known for its many challenging road cycling routes that wind up into the Montagne Noire, the Pic de Nore and throughout the surrounding hilly countryside. We can arrange to pick up you, your luggage and your bikes from the airport (maximum two) for an additional fee. We can also meet you, to collect your baggage, if you wish to cycle part of the 2016 Tour de France route from Carcassonne (Stage 11) to the area, detouring from Azillanet to Beaufort to meet back  here at Au Coeur de Beaufort.

Mountain Bikers

As you can imagine there are many off road pathways that wind through the many vineyards surrounding the village and in the general area. ‘Herault en Velo’ VTT ( Velo Tout Terrain) maps have a number of designated routes throughout the Minervois and are marked with degrees of difficulty so that you can plan your routes.

Bike HIre

We can organise bike hire for you in advance :  As bikes get booked up in High Season please let us know asap.

Bike storage

We have a bike rack in the garden for safe storage and if raining, we have a large cellar, accessible from the alleyway ( Rue des Petit Cartables) behind the house, to keep your cycles safe when not in use and to effect any adjustments or repairs you may have to carry out. You can ‘de-cleat’ there. Stairs to the ground-floor and the first floor bedrooms lead up from there.
